01 — THE OBJECT
Twelve Pockets and a Down Vest. The fishing vest has always been an object of utility: pockets where you need them, equipment within reach, everything carried on the body. What happens when that same logic is reconsidered through contemporary design? This week we looked at how one of fishing's most recognisable pieces of equipment continues to move between function, clothing and cultural reference.

02 — THE CULTURAL SIGNAL
You Guys Have Nothing to Do With Fly Fishing. Purple Mountain Observatory and Db entered fly fishing as outsiders. Rather than hiding that fact, they made it part of the idea. GONE FISHING looks at the equipment, materials and visual codes of the sport without decades of convention attached and perhaps sees something those already inside fishing no longer notice.

03 — THE GATHERING
Making a Wretched Mess. West Yellowstone brought together fly fishing, art and music for two days at Wretched Mess Fest. Less trade show. More cultural gathering. It raises an interesting question about what the future of the fishing event might look like when rods and reels are only part of the reason people show up.
04 — THE WATER
What Happened to the Bugs? Fishing culture tends to focus on what is visible above the water. Sometimes the more important story is considerably smaller. Changes in aquatic insect populations can tell us a great deal about what is happening to a river—and ultimately about the fish and communities that depend on it.

05 — WORTH YOUR TIME
Fisherman in Paris. Fishing has long existed beyond the riverbank. In imagery, clothing and culture, the fisherman has become an archetype that can appear far from the water itself. This week we followed that idea to Paris.
